Bottle Issues: Seafarer’s Stout Hi, Everybody – We just got a call from one of our liquor store accounts to tell us several bottles of Seafarer’s Stout had “popped” (burst). This beer is bottle-conditioned, which means yeast is present. The compromised bottles had been stored outside the cooler; there were no issues with bottles that were in the beer fridge. We take quality control seriously, and quickly determined that this most recent bottling run of Seafarer’s Stout was ONLY delivered to Hanley’s Liquors in Belmar, and sold in our own Tasting Room after March 12. So, if you purchased 22-oz. bottles of Seafarer’s Stout at either location after March 12, and have not yet opened them, please refrigerate the beer (if you haven’t already) and contact Gretchen via email at firstname.lastname@example.org , or call the brewery at 732-361-3555.
I want to stress that only a small number of bottles from this run had been sold, and were only sold at these two locations.
Just a note, bottle-conditioned beer should never be left in a hot car or stored warm; it should always be kept at “cellar” temperatures or cooler. Gretchen
